Deris attended 5 simultaneous police raids in Kusadasi, a well-known tourist spot in Turkey.
Deris, anti-counterfeiting team, has recently attended 5 simultaneous police raids in Kusadasi on behalf of his clients who are active in the field of luxury goods particularly in jewelries and watches.
As a country known with the counterfeiting activities, Turkey has lots of touristic areas especially at Western/ Southern part where a considerable number of counterfeit products are found.
Kusadasi, located on Turkey’s Western Aegean coast, is known with its beach resorts, touristic shopping areas and recently with the fake product shops. A team from Deris attended the police raids organized simultaneously at 5 different addresses, managed to seize counterfeit products from each address where the products were mostly watches and jewelries and completed the raids successfully within scope of his client’s trademark and copy rights.
Many counterfeit products were detected in vacation spots in recent years
In recent years, anti-counterfeiting team from Deris conducts on-the-spot checks in summer vacation areas especially during summer season.
Deris attended expert examinations at the premises of the counterfeiters located in touristic areas such as Bodrum, Side, Belek, Antalya and Alanya which are Turkey’s most favorite vacation districts. During the expert examinations, the experts specialized in IP matters, determined existence of the counterfeit products at the premises of the counterfeiters and therefore the right holders could obtain concrete/strong evidences to proceed with criminal action cases.
In Bodrum, the team attended the expert examinations where a considerable number of counterfeit products were detected by the experts. The Court, therefore, was able to render its decision at the first hearing based on the favorable expert report. Accordingly, as a right owner, the client could obtain quick result regarding his IP rights in Turkey.
We, as Deris, frankly hope that these operations did and will create a great impact to deter infringers from continuing to violate trademark rights and copyrights and will enhance Turkey’s image and position in terms of IP protection.
